🍂 Fall Fresh Start: Declutter Before the Holidays Hit
By Alexa Spiroff
As the leaves start to change and air gets cooler, it’s easy to forget that the holidays are right around the corner. Before the chaos of guests and gatherings begins, now is the perfect time for a reset — a chance to breathe, declutter, and create space for what truly matters.
1️⃣ Start with Your “Stress Zones”
Every home has them — the entryway that collects shoes, the kitchen counter that becomes a paper pile, or that one chair everyone dumps things on. Start small! Pick the one area that makes you sigh when you see it and give it 15 focused minutes of attention. You’ll be amazed how much calmer your space (and your mind) will feel.
2️⃣ Lighten Up Before You Layer Up
Fall means sweaters, jackets, and boots galore — so take a quick inventory of your closet before you buy anything new. If you didn’t wear it last year, chances are you won’t this year either. Donate what you don’t love and make room for the cozy pieces that make you feel good.
3️⃣ Simplify Seasonal Decor
Before you bring in the pumpkins or holiday bins, sort through what you already have. Toss the broken, faded, or average décor and only keep the pieces that really make your home feel warm and inviting. Bonus: you’ll actually enjoy decorating when it’s not a tangled mess.
4️⃣ Prep the Pantry and Fridge
Holiday baking and entertaining will sneak up fast — so take 30 minutes to clear expired items, group similar foods, and make a list of what you truly need. It’s easier to plan when your shelves aren’t overflowing with old cranberry sauce.
5️⃣ Make Room for What’s Coming
Fall decluttering isn’t just about getting rid of things — it’s about making room for new memories, traditions, and people. When your home feels open and ready, you can focus on connection instead of clutter.
